01 — About

An independent, nonprofit research institute focused on the conduct of companies in consumer-facing industries.

Through research, direct engagement with companies and their boards, and public education, the Center works to advance transparency, sound governance, and accountability across the sectors that shape daily life. Its work is grounded in evidence and directed at durable standards rather than passing controversy.

02 — What We Examine

The same questions, in every sector.

Whatever the industry, our research applies a consistent standard to how a company actually conducts itself—and whether its conduct matches what it tells the public.

i — Governance

Corporate Governance

Whether boards are genuinely accountable to shareholders, decisions are disclosed, and oversight is more than a formality.

ii — Consumers

Consumer Treatment & Claims

Whether the claims companies make hold up, and whether their products and services actually serve the people who rely on them.

iii — Disclosure

Transparency & Disclosure

What a company reports, measured against what it does—and where the distance between the two matters.

iv — Leadership

Quality Leadership

Companies are best led by individuals with track records of high quality, responsible leadership.

03 — Our Approach

Research, engagement, and education—in that order.

01

Research

We produce rigorous, evidence-based analysis of corporate conduct and the claims industries make—the factual record that everything else rests on.

02

Corporate Engagement

We bring that research directly to companies and their boards, pressing for stronger standards, fuller disclosure, and concrete commitments through sustained, constructive engagement.

03

Public Education

We translate our findings for the public, equipping consumers and stakeholders to evaluate industry claims and understand how the companies they rely on actually behave.
